Iconic Monument Valley, Arizona is as Southwest as it gets.
John Ford and John Wayne made Monument Valley in Arizona visually famous as backdrops for some of the most iconic western movies ever filmed. I like how the light moves across the landscapes of the southwest deserts. You can watch it change and move in real time. It is a great way to see the movement of our globe in space as sunlight on the earth. These rock formations were made by erosion due to wind and water over eons of time. What a joy it is as an artist to get to enjoy these sculptures of time and record them on a canvas.
