I have a fascination with hats in my paintings. This is one of the larger canvases I have painted. The beaches of Mexico and Southern California are just a few hours away from Arizona, and I visit them whenever I can. I believe most people love the beach. Something about the water and the sound of the waves enthralls most humans. It does me. In this painting I sought to recreate the privacy and solace of being on a secluded beach.
