The Barrel Cactus is one of the many unique organic flora and fauna of the Southwest desert.
I painted this piece onsite at an outdoor art show in Catalina AZ, north of Tucson. This Barrel Cactus was behind my tent as part of the landscaping of the building complex. Different cacti are the coolest subjects to paint in the desert. Their unique shapes and forms, as well as their color variations and flowering, will always attract my attention as an artist.
