World Piece 1

A surrealistic approach to landscape and space imagery. Two of my favorite subject matters.

I was looking out a window at these pine trees during a snowstorm in Pinetop-Lakeside, Arizona and this painting image popped into my head. I painted the snow-covered pine trees from life during that snowstorm but added the rest of the elements from the vision in my brain. The meaning behind the painting I leave up to the viewer. I know what I was thinking when I envisioned it, but I don’t like to influence anyone’s interpretation of the image by espousing it. That is the cool thing about surrealism imagery, it unlocks the viewer’s imagination to enjoy whatever perception of meaning they see in the work, or they can just take in the unique visual image itself. This painting took about 25 hours of my life to complete. And I was floating in space while grounded on earth while doing so. It was an awesome trip!
